LARGE ENSEMBLES
AND BANDS
The following large ensembles/bands are taking place and if you wish to apply to take part, please complete the appropriate section of the application form in accordance with the requirements stated for each band.
JAZZ BAND
Director: Barry-clari
All instruments and all levels of ability are welcome to apply to join,
but in order to achieve a good balance, there will be no more than 3
of each
instrument. If you are a multi-instrumentalist and are willing to let
Barry pick whichever instrument fits in best, please put your preferred option
and level of ability on your application form together with the other instruments
you are willing to play in order to achieve a better balance if necessary.
RECORDER CONSORT
Director: Petrat
All types of recorders and all levels of ability are welcome to apply to
join. If you play a number of different recorders and are happy to
let Petrat pick whichever size creates the best balance, please put your
preferred recorder on your application form together with the other sizes
you are willing to play if necessary.
STRING ENSEMBLE
Convenor: Meerkat
The string ensemble will consist of violin, viola and cello, and all levels
of ability are welcome to apply to join, including pre-Grade1 players who
are not yet bowing. Pre-Grade 1 players should state on the application form
whether you expect to be bowing by the time of the concert and should liaise
with Meerkat nearer the time as to whether you will need a bowing or a plucking
part.
CHOIR
Director: Katyjay
The choir is open to any member who enjoys singing for pleasure, whether
you are a trained singer or not. Please state on your application form if
you are a experienced singer and able to sight-read, and also whether you are
soprano, tenor etc. If you enjoy singing but are not trained, please
estimate which type of voice you are.
GRAND FINALE
Director: Barry-clari
The Grand Finale will be an orchestral piece and all performers will be
welcome to take part. Please state your choice of instrument on the application
form, together with your level of ability. If you are willing to play
an alternative instrument in order to achieve a better balance within the orchestra,
please state your alternative instruments and ability. Please note
that there will not be any keyboard parts so pianists should state an alternative
insturment
