Piano Day: A Worldwide Celebration of All Things Piano

If you enjoy tinkling the ivories…
If you love a Steinway or go weak at the knees at the sight of a Bösendorfer ….
If you have huge admiration for the works of Chopin or Beethoven….
If the sound of chopsticks brings back happy childhood memories….

Why Music Should Be Back On The Education Agenda

Here at the Yorkshire College of Music and Drama, we believe in the positive impact of music in education. Indeed, we supply musical instruments and tuition through an outreach programme to several local primary schools and are great advocates for the benefits of music in education.

The Three Main Benefits of Music

We all know that music is good for us, don’t we? It can lift us out of a bad mood and help us wallow in our melancholy. And, it’s not just our emotions it impacts – we can have a physical response too. A piece of music can make the hairs on our arms stand on end, our tear-ducts go into overdrive and our hearts beat faster.

But are there any deeper, more significant benefits to music?
