We have several groups who meet here at the YCMD. Some are classes held by our regular tutors, others are independent music groups who meet up and use our college building.

Tuesdays evenings 7.30pm – 8.30pm


An ongoing series of modules designed specifically for choir leaders.

The Choir Leaders course at the YCMD meet on Tuesdays between 7.30pm – 8.30pm.

Part of an ongoing series of modules for choir leaders. This module looks at basic conducting techniques and tips for starting your own choir.

The next 2 modules will start in September 2016.

Thursday evenings between 6pm and 7pm


We offer a group Music Theory lesson each week for those up to grade 5

The teacher for this group music theory class is Matthew Lazenby

An invaluable class for anyone wishing to know more about the theory of music.

Normal College group fees apply.

Tuesday evenings 7.00pm – 8.00pm

Our Saxophone group classes are lead by Donal Donnelly

This established ensemble needs more players, so that we can have the full range of the flute family, from piccolo to bass flute – come and join us!

• All styles of music played

• Special offer until Christmas £4 per hour


Friday evenings 6pm – 7pm

The session is suitable for all ages, from Grade 3 to Grade5 standard.

The YCMD flute group is lead by Hazel Smith.

Monday evenings 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Our String Orchestra meets on a Monday evening for players of Grade 1 standard and above.

This group is suitable for people interested in the classical repertoire.
